CHIBA -- General Motors Corp. remains committed to working closely with Suzuki Motor Corp. and Isuzu Motor Ltd., despite speculation it may sever capital alliances with the automakers to accelerate realignment in the global auto industry, a senior GM official said Wednesday.
The speculation was prompted by GM's announcement earlier this month that the ailing giant would sell its stake in Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. to Toyota Motor Corp.
But GM Vice President Lawrence Burns said in an interview with The Japan Times that the world's largest automaker will maintain its ties with the two Japanese car manufacturers.
