Eight people were arrested Friday over alleged involvement in credit card forgery, Tokyo police said.

The eight include Zhang Yanjun, 36, who claims to be a Chinese national, and Loo Kim Guan, 34, who claims to be a Malaysian, as well as one Japanese and a Taiwanese, the Metropolitan Police Department said.

The police seized about 100 forged credit cards, about 2,000 blank plastic cards and 39 portable skimmers, which are used to scan magnetic data, from Loo's house in Tokyo's Shinjuku Ward and other locations.

The police suspect the eight obtained magnetic data from credit cards that were used in Costa Rica to create counterfeit cards.
