The Internal Affairs and Communications Ministry said Friday it will introduce stickers from Oct. 22 that alert buyers of analog television sets that all terrestrial analog transmissions will be terminated in July 2011.
The stickers, to be put on all analog television sets on sale, will state that the buyers need to purchase special tuners to continue watching television after July 2011.
The ministry decided to alert consumers after its March survey found that fewer than 10 percent of respondents knew when analog broadcasting will be terminated.
The ministry plans to first ask retailers to put the stickers on television sets, before asking manufacturers to do so when they ship products from next June.
