Liberal Democratic Party heavyweight Mikio Aoki testified Tuesday at the Tokyo District Court that he doesn't remember his faction receiving an unreported 100 million yen check from the Japan Dental Association.
Aoki belongs to the LDP faction led at the time by former Prime Minister Ryutaro Hashimoto.
Aoki, head of the LDP's caucus in the House of Councilors, was summoned to testify in the trial of former Chief Cabinet Secretary Kanezo Muraoka, 74, who has been charged with hiding the 100 million yen donation received from the Japan Dental Association. Unreported donations are a violation of the Political Funds Control Law.
