Honda Motor Co. on Thursday unveiled its remodeled Civic -- the first major revamp of the car in five years -- hoping to take one of its mainstays more upmarket.
The new Civic features a sleek body and fuel-efficient engine, the carmaker said. It also comes in a hybrid model.
Unlike the U.S. market, where it accounts for one out of every five Hondas sold, the Civic has had less success in Japan. Consumers looking for a vehicle of this type tend to choose either minivans or compacts.
