South Korean actor Bae Yong Joon has became a shareholder of Interactive Media Mix Inc., the Japanese Internet-content provider said Tuesday.
Interactive Media issued 7,830 new shares worth 1.33 billion yen for a third-party allotment. Bae, who starred in the South Korean TV drama series "Winter Sonata" -- a huge hit in Japan -- bought 1,480 shares, or a 6.6 percent stake in the firm, for 251.6 million yen.
The Softbank Corp. group took the remaining shares for a combined 28.1 percent stake in Interactive Media, which was the first firm to distribute the now immensely popular South Korean TV series and movies to Japanese over the Internet.
Of the money raised through the new share allotment, 665.55 million yen was used to boost the company's capital to 717.05 million yen.
Interactive Media plans to broaden its Internet movie and music services.
