Personal data on 123 people who used Rakuten Ichiba, Japan's largest online shopping portal, has been leaked, its operator said Saturday.
According to Rakuten Inc., the data include credit card numbers, names, postal addresses, phone numbers, birth dates and items they bought at AMC, a store in the Internet mall that sells imported merchandise.
So far, there have been no reports of illegal use of credit cards, Rakuten said.
The AMC site took in 94,000 orders since it signed up with Rakuten in March 2002, 21,000 of them made with credit cards.
Rakuten said it reported the leak to police and is trying to find out how it occurred. The 123 customers have been notified through e-mail.
