A female employee at Namjatown, an indoor amusement park in Tokyo, was seriously injured Thursday while inspecting equipment at a haunted hotel attraction, police said.
The accident centered around the Bathtub, a device that features a cover with a width of 1 meter, a length of 1.2-meters and a thickness of 6 cm.
The cover is designed to open and release a "ghost" when a sensor detects visitors.
Yumiko Watanabe, 29, was apparently trying to adjust lighting on this cover when her torso became trapped, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.
She was found by a colleague, who called for an ambulance, just before the amusement facility opened at 10 a.m.
Namjatown closed the haunted hotel attraction, though all other facilities were open to the public on Thursday, the first day of school summer vacation.
