The transport ministry filed criminal accusations with police Friday against three companies and their officials for allegedly underreporting the weight of rail track maintenance vehicles in an attempt to circumvent government regulations, ministry sources said.
The three firms are Tokyo-based machinery equipment manufacturer Komatsu Ltd., imported vehicle dealer Yanase & Co., and Toyo Sharyo, an Osaka-based maker of track maintenance vehicles.
Complaints against Komatsu were filed with Ishikawa Prefectural Police, those against Yanase with Kanagawa Prefectural Police and Toyo Sharyo with Osaka Prefectural Police, the sources said.
