Toy maker Bandai Co. acquired extra shares in People Co. on Thursday, boosting its equity stake to 20 percent.
Bandai, which already had 36,000 shares in People, a smaller toy maker, bought an additional 852,000 People shares, becoming the top shareholder in the company.
On Wednesday, the company announced a plan to enhance capital alliance with People in a bid to strengthen its division catering for babies.
People has several popular toy series aimed at babies.
