A 9-year-old Japanese boy has been confirmed to have been killed in Thailand in the tsunamis that struck the Indian Ocean last December, bringing the confirmed Japanese death toll in the disaster to 37, Foreign Ministry officials said Monday.

The boy, identified Saturday mainly from his belongings, was among three children born to a Singapore-based Japanese businessman and his wife, both of whom were earlier confirmed killed in the deadly wave.

The whereabouts of the other two children is still unknown, the officials said.
