Atomic-bomb survivors living in South Korea will be able to apply at Japanese diplomatic offices for medical allowances under a new government plan.
Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi is expected to bring up the plan when he meets Monday in Seoul with South Korean President Roh Moo Hyun, according to government sources.
The plan would only benefit people who have already been officially recognized as survivors, or hibakusha, of the U.S. atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki but have not yet applied for benefits.
