The Social Insurance Agency has launched inspections of foreign-language schools nationwide to make sure their foreign teachers are covered by social insurance, the agency said Monday.

According to the agency, there are about 750 foreign-language institutes nationwide. Having learned that some schools have not had their teachers covered by employee welfare pensions or health insurance, the agency on May 19 informed social security insurance secretariats nationwide of its intention to conduct the on-site inspections.

According to the welfare pension security law, companies must make sure that full-time workers and part-time employees who work more than three-quarters of full-time hours are covered by welfare pensions and health insurance.
