Police served a fresh arrest warrant Thursday on a 24-year-old man who allegedly held a 23-year-old woman captive for about four months last year.
Yasuyoshi Kobayashi, who was charged Wednesday with confining a 19-year-old girl for more than three months, has denied bringing the 23-year-old woman to his apartment or holding her prisoner.
Police suspect there was one more woman in his flat where the 23-year-old was confined and are probing if two were confined at the same time.
Kobayashi brought the 23-year-old he met at an event to his apartment in Tokyo's Adachi Ward on Aug. 23, inviting her to see photos they had taken together, according to police.
He threatened to kill her if she escaped, they said.
Kobayashi moved to an apartment in Tokyo's Setagaya Ward in October but continued to hold the woman captive until she escaped Dec. 16 after being assaulted.
