The Tokyo Metropolitan Assembly adopted a motion Thursday to censure Vice Gov. Takeo Hamauzu for falsely accusing a metro vocational school of mismanagement.

The motion, submitted during the regular session, urges Gov. Shintaro Ishihara's closest aide to reflect seriously on the false statement he made in the assembly in March.

Hamauzu had told the assembly a vocational school for social welfare, run by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, was being mismanaged, which later was found to be untrue.

The motion also says that Hamauzu is controlling personnel affairs and selecting the information Ishihara gets, which has caused problems in metro operations.

A proposal to replace Hamauzu will be submitted to the assembly Tuesday.
