A group comprising 45 companies and organizations has established a forum to promote the advancement of women into top management, group organizers said Friday.
The Japan Women's Innovative Network, or J-Win, was established last month by companies and organizations, including IBM Japan Ltd., Sony Corp., Nissan Motor Co. and Japan Airlines.
Through the forum, the member companies aim to share expertise on nurturing female managers, creating images of long-term careers for women and establishing cooperative networks among working women, the organizers said.
The members will send female representatives to the forum's regular monthly conference, where they will discuss career-related topics.
According to a recent MasterCard survey, Japan ranked 11th among 13 countries and areas in the Asia-Pacific region in terms of women's social advancement and attainment in comparison to men.
