The Web site of Sony Corp.'s Chinese arm has come under cyber attack with messages posted criticizing Japan's wartime atrocities against China, the company said Friday.
Kumamoto University found a similar message and an image of the Chinese national flag on its Web site early Friday morning. It filed a criminal complaint with police for alleged illegal access, officials said.
Sony also said its call center for customer services in China received a slew of harassing calls, most of them in which the callers remained silent, on Thursday. It has since responded to calls to the center by using answering machines.
Meanwhile, NEC Corp. also said it had received several such calls, while Mitsubishi Electric Corp. said it got about 40 prank calls Wednesday.
