DaimlerChrysler Japan Co. said Tuesday it will recall PT Cruiser cars and Actros trucks, Suzuki Motor Corp. said it will recall Swift compact cars and Isuzu Motors Ltd. said it has to fix Erga buses.
In a report to the Land, Infrastructure and Transport Ministry, the Japanese arm of DaimlerChrysler AG said it will fix 2,118 PT Cruisers imported between April 2000 and September 2001.
It said the vehicles might catch fire because improper installation of the fuel supply hose could cause the hose to crack, possibly leading to fuel leaking onto the exhaust gas pipe.
DaimlerChrysler Japan also said it will repair 474 Actros trucks imported between December 1997 and December 2000.
