Struggling automaker Mitsubishi Motors Corp. has reached a basic agreement with Nissan Motor Co. on expanding their tieup in the field of minivehicles, according to industry sources.

Under the accord, Mitsubishi Motors will supply some 40,000 eK Wagons to Nissan a year for sale under the Nissan brand, starting this summer, the sources said.

The eK Wagon is MMC's main minicar model. It is now supplying light commercial vehicles to Nissan.
