The Tokyo High Court on Thursday upheld the death penalty for a moneylender for the murder of two men and attempted murder of another for life insurance.
Presiding Judge Masaru Suda ruled that there were no factual errors that led to the decision by the Saitama District Court in October 2002 to sentence Shigeru Yagi, 55, to hang for masterminding the crimes.
Yagi, a resident of Honjo, Saitama Prefecture, had pleaded not guilty.
