The number of Japanese nationals killed in the earthquake and tsunami devastation in Southern Asia has risen to 21, according to the Foreign Ministry.
As of late Sunday, 13 Japanese had been confirmed dead in Thailand and eight others were killed in Sri Lanka by massive tsunamis following the Dec. 26 earthquake off Indonesia's Sumatra Island, the ministry said.
Apart from the dead, 11 Japanese were listed as missing as of Monday, according to a Kyodo News tally.
