Relatives of Koreans who died in Japan in the closing days of World War II after being brought here as forced laborers lost a suit Monday in which they were seeking damages over unpaid wages.

The Tokyo District Court rejected their suit on the grounds that Japan and South Korea mutually gave up their rights to claim such damages when they normalized ties in 1965.

The lawsuit was filed by the relatives of seven Koreans who were killed in Allied attacks against the Kamaishi plant of Nippon Steel Corp.'s predecessor in Iwate Prefecture in 1945.
