Toyota Motor Corp. said Tuesday it is aiming to sell 8.03 million vehicles worldwide in calendar 2005, the first time the nation's top automaker has released a sales target of more than 8 million units.
The goal, including sales by Toyota subsidiaries Daihatsu Motor Co. and Hino Motors Ltd., would mark a 7 percent increase from the 7.47 million sales forecast for this year.
"With such a plan, we will position 2005 as the year for improvement," Toyota President Fujio Cho told a news conference in Tokyo.
