The parcel delivery business of Lawson Inc. has grown 33.3 percent in the first month since it teamed up with Japan Post, the two said Monday.
Lawson's 7,900 outlets nationwide handled about 765,000 parcels from Nov. 18 to Friday, with each outlet handling an average of 3.2 per day, up from 2.4 in the preceding month, they said.
The number also represents a rise of 12.7 percent from a year before.
The convenience store operator began handling Japan Post's Yu-Pack door-to-door parcel delivery services after terminating its contract to serve as an exclusive agent for industry leader Yamato Transport Co.'s packages.
