The Tokyo District Court acquitted three peace activists Thursday of trespassing at a Self-Defense Forces housing facility in western Tokyo and inserting in mailboxes leaflets opposing the SDF deployment in Iraq.
Prosecutors had demanded that the woman and two men be sentenced to six months in prison.
The peace activists pleaded not guilty, arguing that prosecuting them for making a political statement would violate their right to freedom of expression.
