Winner of three gold medals at the Sydney and Athens Paralympics, Henry Wanyoike also broke the world record at the marathon for the visually disabled held in Boston this year, completing the race in 2 hours, 33 minutes and 20 seconds.
This world champion is blind, having lost his sight out of the blue one day nine years ago. It all happened on the evening of April 30, 1995.
Twenty-year-old Wanyoike went to bed as usual at his home in Kenya. But on that night, his life changed forever -- he woke up the next day blind.
