The Industrial Revitalization Corp. of Japan plans to sell more than half of some 110 companies in the Daiei group as part of its rehabilitation of the supermarket chain, industry sources said Friday.

Beginning early next year, IRCJ will publicly invite bids for Daiei group companies that are not directly involved in Daiei Inc.'s supermarket business, they said.

The Daiei group firms to be put on sale include Jujiya Co. and other department store chains, as well as restaurant chains Volks Inc. and Kobe Lamptei Inc., the sources said. Volks operates steak restaurants and Kobe Lamptei runs "gyudon" beef-on-rice outlets.

IRCJ plans to retain credit card service provider OMC Card Inc. as a core member of the Daiei group, they said.
