Resona Holdings Inc. wants to increase the number of female branch managers to 10 percent of its total number, Resona Chairman Eiji Hosoya said in a recent interview.
"By taking advantage of women's capabilities, we can show how different we are from other banks," said Hosoya.
He said he hopes to raise the number of female branch managers at the banking group from the current six to about 50.
He also revealed the banking group's plan to tie up with child- and nursing-care services company Poppins Corp. to set up small bank outlets at nursery schools.
"I want to think hard about making a better working environment for women," Hosoya said.
Hosoya said the group will reduce the number of personnel in its administrative divisions by transferring employees to sales and marketing sections next fall at the earliest.
In a bid to beef up its marketing operations, the group will hire about 50 experienced workers in fiscal 2005, which starts next April, according to Hosoya.
