With the Wednesday opening of a new terminal at Tokyo's Haneda airport, the nation's two main airlines have launched yet another fierce battle to woo domestic passengers with new services.
Both carriers are trying to take advantage of the terminal arrangements, with All Nippon Airways Co. moving to the new Terminal 2 and Japan Airlines Corp. staying at Terminal 1. Haneda handles about 60 percent of Japan's domestic traffic, and is a cash cow for both.
Built at a cost of 67 billion yen, Terminal 2 also houses Hokkaido International Airlines Co., better known as Air Do. But the floor space is almost entirely occupied by ANA.
