Mitsubishi Fuso Truck & Bus Corp. has decided to recall about 20,000 large trucks with defective front wheel hubs and said more recalls are on the way, according to company officials.

The company did not name the potentially dangerous models.

The recall affects a type of Mitsubishi Fuso truck that was sold in Japan from 1995 onward. The truck maker, mired in a series of defect coverup scandals, issued the recall after determining that "F-type" wheel hubs are too weak and fail to meet the company's new in-house inspection criteria, the officials said Monday.

The defective parts do not appear to have caused any accidents yet, they said.

The truck maker said it is preparing yet more recalls of buses and trucks equipped with defective rear wheel hubs, the officials said.
