Bridal-related stocks drew active buying Monday on investor expectations that demand for wedding products and services will increase following reports that Princess Nori is set to get married.
Shares of Watabe Wedding, Japan's largest firm engaged in rental and sales of dresses for wedding ceremonies, gained 35 yen to reach 2,835 yen on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, while Tasaki Shinju, which mainly produces and sells pearls, jumped 27 yen to 416 yen.
"Such shares drew buying on speculation that demand for bridal-related business will increase in the next several months stirred by the happy reports," said Tsuyoshi Segawa, an equity strategist at Shinko Securities Co.
Among other shares that gained were those of department stores, including Mitsukoshi and Isetan, on speculation that demand for wedding-related items will rise, brokers said.
