The government plans to cut expressway tolls nationwide by 30 percent between midnight and 4 a.m. for cars equipped with an electronic toll collection system, transport minister Nobuteru Ishihara said Friday.
The move will take effect in November, the minister of land, infrastructure and transport said.
Ishihara told a news conference that the ministry will approve an application for the toll cut by Japan Highway Public Corp.
The move is part of a broader plan to cut overall expressway tolls by 10 percent.
