Toyota Motor Corp. has agreed to hire some 400 workers at Mitsubishi Motors Corp.'s assembly plant in Okazaki, Aichi Prefecture, MMC said Wednesday.
Toyota said that, from October, it will accept about 250 MMC workers, while its group companies will take on some 150 workers, all as regular employees.
The group firms have factories in the prefecture, including in the city of Toyota.
MMC workers who apply for the positions will be screened by the Toyota group, Toyota officials said.
By the end of 2005, MMC will close down its Okazaki plant, which has some 1,800 workers, as part of a restructuring plan aimed at reviving the scandal-tainted company.
