Sales of used vehicles by Mitsubishi Motors Corp. and Mitsubishi Fuso Truck & Bus Corp. in the first half of this year fell 4.8 percent from a year earlier to a combined 199,795 units, the Japan Automobile Dealers Association said Monday.
These results contrast sharply with the laudable performance of some rival automakers in the same period. Nissan Diesel Motor Co., for example, logged 8.5 percent growth, while Isuzu Motors Ltd. saw growth of 8.1 percent.
The two Mitsubishi companies have seen sales plunge amid consumer disquiet over their defect coverups and recalls.
