Furniture importer Simmons Co. announced Wednesday that the firm will start selling sofas and reclining chairs made by two Northern European furniture makers in August.
Under business tieup agreements, Simmons will have the right to sell premium leather sofas and chairs of the Northern Comfort brand, made by Hjellegjerde ASA of Norway, and the Dream Recliner brand, made by AP Furniture A/S of Denmark.
The upmarket sofas and chairs are priced up to 650,000 yen.
Hjellegjerde President Elder Eilertsen said at a news conference that the firm hopes Japan will become one of its main markets, in addition to Scandinavian countries, Germany, the United States and France. "Hopefully Japan will be among these main markets soon," he said. This furniture venture is a part of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of Simmons.
