Japan and Britain should deepen their partnership on global matters, including dispute settlements, British Ambassador to Japan Stephen Gomersall said in a recent speech in Tokyo.
"Japan is a vital partner for us to work on global issues, following the United States and the European Union," Gomersall said in Japanese. "Japan has been playing a key role in such areas as technology, humanitarian support, the environment and international development."
Gomersall will leave Japan in July, having served as ambassador for five years. During his lecture Tuesday, jointly sponsored by Aoyama Gakuin University and The Japan Times, Gomersall discussed his country's basic diplomatic strategies.
