Wholesalers saw their sales rise in April from a year earlier for the fifth straight month, while retail sales fell for the second consecutive month, the government said Thursday.
Sales by wholesalers came to 33.32 trillion yen, up 4 percent, while those by retailers edged down 0.8 percent to 10.51 trillion yen, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry said in a preliminary report.
