Scandal-tainted Mitsubishi Motors Corp. was the only company of Japan's five biggest automakers to see a double-digit decline in domestic sales in April from a year earlier, according to figures released by the companies Thursday.
MMC, reeling from a string of defect coverup scandals, saw its sales in Japan plunge 19 percent to 16,286 vehicles, down for the fourth consecutive month, as consumers apparently shunned the company's products due to its tainted image.
