An All Nippon Airways flight bound for Hiroshima made an emergency landing at Osaka's Itami airport Thursday after reporting a malfunctioning engine, officials said.

The twin-jet Boeing 767 plane, which was carrying 288 passengers and crew members, landed without incident, ANA spokesman Satoshi Hori said.

All Nippon Airways Flight 671, from Tokyo's Haneda airport, was heading for Hiroshima when a warning message indicated one of the two engines was malfunctioning. The pilot shut down the engine at 8:10 a.m. and safely at Itami airport at 8:29 a.m.

Airline officials examined the aircraft and said the warning signal had malfunctioned, not the engine.
