Yoshinoya D&C Co. on Thursday served "gyudon" beef-on-rice dishes at a food fair in Yokohama -- the first time it has served these dishes since it suspended them in February.
The suspension was imposed in the wake of Japan's ban on U.S. beef imports.
Yoshinoya plans to serve 3,000 bowls of gyudon featuring U.S. beef, which it still has a preban limited supply of, for four days through Sunday at the fair at 280 yen per bowl.
A line formed at the Yoshinoya booth even before its 10:30 a.m. opening at the Pacifico Yokohama conference center, where the 2004 Japan Food Service Show is being held.
Yoshinoya, Japan's largest chain of gyudon restaurants, stopped serving its mainstay dish on Feb. 11, when it ran out of beef.
