NTT DoCoMo Inc. announced Friday a record net profit of 650 billion yen for the year that ended March 31, up more than three-fold from 212.49 billion yen a year ago.
Japan's largest cell phone operator said its profit increase was propelled by stronger-than-expected growth in its third-generation wireless service.
The jump was also aided by narrowing losses from investments in overseas carriers that NTT made to promote its high-speed 3G network and i-mode wireless phone Internet services.
