Den Fujita, a charismatic businessman who established the McDonald's fast-food chain's Japan presence as well as the country's Toys "R" Us debut, has died of heart failure, a company official said Monday. He was 78.
Fujita was long praised for his innovative entrepreneurship and marketing acumen.
He gained fame introducing Western-style businesses when they were still rare here in the decades after World War II, resorting to his knowledge of American and Japanese cultures to adapt new businesses to local lifestyles.
