The sudden decision by DaimlerChrysler AG to halt further financial support to ailing Mitsubishi Motors Corp. has forced the Japanese automaker to drastically reconsider its restructuring program, analysts said.
"DaimlerChrysler seems to have reached a conclusion that it can expect no return for contributing money to MMC anymore. This is a sign that DaimlerChrysler has abandoned MMC," said Koji Endo, an industrial analyst at Credit Suisse First Boston Securities (Japan) Ltd.
He said the German-American automaker is ready to sell all of its 37 percent stake in MMC.
