Foreign Minister Yoriko Kawaguchi canceled the latter part of her official duties Thursday due to fatigue, the ministry said.
Kawaguchi left halfway through deliberations by the Lower House special committee on war contingency legislation, canceled dinner with Kyrgyzstan President Askar Akayev and headed home, ministry sources said.
Senior Vice Foreign Minister Masatoshi Abe was to attend the dinner with Akayev on Kawaguchi's behalf, they said. Her schedule Friday might be adjusted after considering her health condition.
Ministry officials said Kawaguchi does not need to go to a hospital, hinting that her condition is not serious.
As Kawaguchi did not seem well in the morning before the session began, committee members suggested she cancel her schedule and rest, committee members said.
