NTT Communications Corp. said Thursday it will offer a new Internet-based phone service on May 10 that allows broadband subscribers to call each other, irrespective of their Internet service provider.

The service, DotPhone Personal V, allows subscribers to converse regardless of whether they are using asymmetrical digital subscriber line, cable TV or Fiber-to-the-Home broadband services.

Subscribers to the new service will also be able to call each other, free of charge, while watching moving images of the other person on a computer screen, it said.
