FamilyMart Co. said Tuesday its net profit rose 7 percent to 13.79 billion yen for the year through February, thanks to solid growth in store numbers at home and overseas.

Revenue for Japan's third-largest convenience store chain was up 5 percent to 228.98 billion yen. The increase in sales and profit was also helped by a strong showing for the company's e-commerce unit.

During the year, the number of domestic outlets grew by 186 to 6,199.

The company also has stores in Taiwan, South Korea and Thailand, with total overseas outlets increasing by 1,017 to 4,127.

For the current year, the company said it plans to open 600 new stores in Japan and to continue its aggressive overseas openings, including in Shanghai.
