Japan decided Monday to waive short-stay visa fees for some students from China and Southeast Asian countries in an effort to promote youth exchanges, the Foreign Ministry said.
Chinese primary and secondary school students planning school excursions to Japan, along with university students from ASEAN-member countries, are now exempt from paying the visa processing fee, which is approximately 3,000 yen.
The waiver does not apply to other types of entry visa.
