The 11th International Friendship Sailing Festival, an all-day event that includes a dinghy race in Tokyo Bay followed by a party, is slated for May 29 at Hakkeijima Marina in Yokohama.
The races can accommodate 20 teams, each with two participants, who can be changed for each race slated. The races are open to any interested party with some sailing experience. The participation fee for each team is 40,000 yen, which includes the party fee for two. The fee just to attend the party and ride on a spectator boat is 5,000 yen.
Starboard Inc., the Japan Sailing Federation, the Foreign and education ministries, the city of Yokohama and The Japan Times are among the parties backing the event.
The application deadline is May 17 and the payment deadline is May 21.
