More Japanese who were left behind in China at the end of World War II and have returned to live in Japan plan to sue the central government for failing to promptly repatriate and resettle them, sources said.
The roughly 240 war-displaced Japanese are planning lawsuits in Tokyo and Fukuoka, they said.
Their action will bring the number of such suits against the government to about 1,900, or about 80 percent of all war-displaced Japanese who have resettled in Japan. A total 2,472 had permanently resettled as of late January, according to the Health, Labor and Welfare Ministry.
