The Democratic Party of Japan said Friday it will expel Kanju Sato over his alleged pocketing of the state-paid salary of a woman falsely registered as his secretary.
Sato tendered his resignation from the Diet on Thursday, and it was accepted Friday.
DPJ Secretary General Katsuya Okada said the party decided to ax Sato because the House of Representatives member had failed to provide a clear explanation on the matter.
